DID YOU KNOW… That there are Adaptive Computing stations all over campus...and
that these computers are available for all students to use.
The Adaptive Computing Lab is located in BEB 103, next door to the DSS office.
The lab features stations for training, testing, and alternate format
production.
DSS also maintains adaptive computing workstations in the library and in the
LRC. These stations are modeled after the Adaptive computing Lab training
station and are open for students, staff, and community members to use.
These computer stations are equipped with adaptive software that will read
documents and webpages out loud, magnify on screen, and allow users to convert
print material to an electronic format by using the scanner and Optical
Character Recognition software. The scanner used in the adaptive computing
stations is a Fujitsu 4220. It produces high-quality color, grayscale and
monochrome scans in a single pass. It also features a 50-page automatic
document feeder (ADF) that accommodates paper sizes ranging from 2.1 in. x 2.9
in. to 8.5 in. x 14 in.
DSS can provide training in the use of these stations.
